Change – it can be the most exhilarating thing, or the most frightening. Change can cause disruptions, can threaten your comfort zone and can offer the most difficult challenges.

And yet our life consists of change – every day brings some kind of change to us. Regardless of whether we like it or not we grow and eventually age. So why should it cause us such stress when we are faced with change in our life or our careers?

Perhaps it’s because we like what we know best; because we are comfortable with the known and fear the unknown. Maybe we prefer to daydream about the possibilities in our life rather than take action.

Goethe said “What you can do, or dream you can do, begin it: boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” So it’s the first step that must cause the problem. But there is an air of possibility about the New Year. A sense that all things are achievable, so why not consider if change is on the cards for you..

Change does not have to be drastic – a brand new career or a new relationship. Change can simply be bringing your life into balance.

We all know the adage “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” – so maybe what you need in 2008 is a slightly different focus, because it can be a very fine line; pack too much activity into your day and you can find yourself overloaded with work, tired and jaded and you haven’t got the energy or mental agility to enjoy life to the full.

But if you don’t have enough stimulation in your life you can mentally, physically and emotionally stagnate. So if the balance of your life is out of kilter, perhaps you need to consider what changes you need to make to bring the balance back.

Creating a more balanced life means taking back control – and sometimes that means working on your attitude to life. Alison Haynes in her book *”Change” says that we should live in the present, “The here and now is all we have and there is really no time like the present.” So if you want to change why not consider how the Self-Improvement seminars conducted by Trischel can help you.
